Covellite

Covellite (also known as Covelline) is a deep indigo metallic blue (so deep it looks black unless you look at it in bright light), with patches of off-white and golden flecks of Pyrite. Most Covellite also has a purple-rose iridescent oxidation sheen when you look at it in direct sunlight.

Covellite is rarely found, and even less often cut, as it is extremely messy to work with and difficult to cut (I asked a lapidary artist). So, I was simply overjoyed to find it in cabochon form, to present on eBay! ~*~grin~*~


Ancient beliefs about the energies of stones and their methods of use have been applied to the understanding of Covellite:

• Covellite stimulates Third-Eye chakra activity - initiates psychic abilities.

• Covellite assists in matters of birth and re-birth.

• Covellite is said to have been used in the treatment of cancer, to stimulate disordered cells to re-order themselves and to purge any toxins from within the body. As noted in Melody's book, placing the mineral on or near the Navel Chakra seems to stimulate the process - placing it on the affected areas has also been conducive to relief.

• Covellite vibrates especially well with the Astrological Sign of Sagittarius, and the numbers 4 & 7.
