Louisiana Opal

Louisiana Opal is a naturally occurring combination of Quartz and precious Opal that is hard enough to cut glass. It is not delicate like other Opals. It is extremely rare, since the mine was closed in the 1990s, and all that was mined is all there is. Louisiana Opal is a true collector's Opal. Since Louisiana Opal is a completely natural blending of Quartz and Opal, I have listed the properties of both here on this page. Ancient beliefs about the energies of stones and their methods of use have been applied to the understanding of Louisiana Opal:

Opal encourages FLASHES of insight and intuition, and is said to have been used by shamen to invoke visions, and used during the Aboriginal "dreamtime" ceremonies.

My personal opinion about Opal is - - FABULOUS! I've always been fascinated by Opals, every kind! Some people are born to wear Opals. Some people can feel the extremely potent energies of Opals, and others can't. But there's one thing that cannot be denied - they capture our attention with their "fire" and beauty!

Opal enhances feelings, encouraging spontaneous actions and release of inhibitions.

Opal brings faithfulness and loyalty to relationships of all types.

Opal amplifies our traits and characteristics.

Opal strengthens memory.

When used with the goal of "fading into the background", the wearer of Opal can successfully hide in plain sight (visualization exercise for the advanced practitioner).

Quartz can be used to stimulate PSYCHIC awareness including telepathy, clairvoyance, and clairaudience.

Quartz can alleviate tensions, and be helpful for restful sleep.

Quartz amplifies our personal energy field, & can be programmed for protection.

Quartz is excellent for meditation.

Quartz can help in maintaining balance, and can be used for clearing all chakras - which aids in the healing process.

Opal is listed as the Star Sign Stone for Aquarius and Libra, the Tibetan Mystical Birthstone for April, an alternate birthstone for June, and the modern birthstone for October. And Quartz vibrates well with ALL Astrological signs!

I have no medical evidence to substantiate the correlation between wearing this stone and the effects it will have on the wearer. The mystical healing properties offered above were partially paraphrased from one of a series of Melody's books in the LOVE IS IN THE EARTH series. Melody suggests that the metaphysical properties listed for each stone will have these effects on the wearer WHILE he/she concentrates on the desired outcome. The author further states that this is NOT a substitute for consulting your physician; and I agree. When I wear any of my stones or crystals, I feel empowered by them. Maybe it's just because I WEAR them with specific intentions -- it works because I told my mind it would, OR does it work because of the molecular interaction between my body and the stones/crystals? I don't know. All I know is it seems to work FOR ME.
